NAILS IN THE WALL

Thread:

Life on Earth was seeded from space and Ozohu loved to walk past aloof stars and icy sun in the community. One day, she met Ize seated by the Riverside. Ize cowered like a slave in the sight of freedom as soon as she saw Ozohu. Ozohu was bewildered and
thought to remain silent but, understood that silence separate people and destroy the world so she decided to speak to Ize.

"Why are you by the Riverside all by yourself" asked Ozohu.

Ize couldn& #39;t but asked a question in response to Ozohu. She asked,
"Marriage makes you family, right?"

"No ma& #39;am" Ozohu responded almost instinctively. "Not even blood makes you family", she added.

"Really?" Said Ize.

"Blood makes you related and marriage makes you life companion. Only loyalty makes you family", Ozohu responded while giving
Ize a straight face.

Ozohu was still astounded by the question thrown at her by a stranger she met under the strangest circumstances she pulled a big stone by the corner to sit beside Ize.

Ize suddenly became emotional and couldn& #39;t utter a word. She struck like she needed to
hold someone& #39;s hand to bring her to reality, which Ozohu offered. This made Ozohu became even more inquisitive. She could tell that Ize had words behind her tongue.

"If you need to cry, cry. Don& #39;t suppress the emotions or fight the frog in your throat to soothe whoever is
hurting you; for, at the end of the day, Mother Nature says it all begins with you", Ozohu admonished.

"Thank you. I& #39;m glad the universe allowed your soul to stop by" said Ize.

Ize hadn& #39;t felt so safe in the last couple of months. She has had her husband& #39;s thorns stabbed into
her guts for a long time and it hurts badly. She knew the value of loyalty and understood that, if it hurts, it& #39;s not okay.

Ize soon realized she had met someone who was matured enough to handle her reality. Someone who made her felt safe and calmed like nothing could harm her.
She believed she had met someone who would stand in solidarity with whatever is good for her, so, she began her story.

"My husband has a bad temper and would say anything hurtful to me. Over the years, he has stripped me of my essence with his mouth. I have cried and cried even
more I have began to loose it", Ize explained.

Ozohu was a great personality who mirrored sincerity and dignity at all times, she didn& #39;t judge Ize& #39;s husband since she hadn& #39;t heard from him but she thought of what Ize could do to curb her husband& #39;s temper and the haul of
demeaning words to her. She finally came up with an amazing idea.

Ozohu told Ize that, beneath her shattered heart and bruised Faith lied a hero. She reassured her to utilize her strength, that the road would be there when she needed them and finally, she gave her a bag full of
nails and whispered in her ear.

Ize got home and handed the bag of nails to her husband and told him that every time he lost his temper and said a hurtful words to her, he must hammer a nail into the back of the wall of their house.

The next three days, Ize& #39;s husband had
driven thirty seven nails into the wall but, driving each nail was hell of a work.

Over the next few weeks, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down because Ize& #39;s husband discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the wall.
Finally, a day came when he didn& #39;t loyse his temper at all.

When Ize realized her husband no longer loose his temper and rain abusive words on her, she suggested that he pulled out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. Several weeks passed and he was able to
tell her that all the nails were gone.

Ize took her husband by the hand and led him to the wall. She said, "you have done well, my husband, but look at the holes in the wall, the wall will never be the same; when you said those hurtful words to me, they left scars just like
these ones".

"A verbal wound is twice as bad as a physical one, it wouldn& #39;t matter how many times you are sorry, the wound would still be there", she added.

Ize& #39;s husband became bereaved of all coherent thoughts, upon realizing he had allowed his temper to plunge his family
into the depths of misery, he broke down in tears.
