God, the labeling of certain DNA strands shared by Jewish people as "Ashkenazi" has fucked a lot of people up
You can have Ashkenazi DNA and not be an Ashkenazi -- Christians who have those strands are not Ashkenazi. They are Christians.

You can also have none of them and be Ashkenzi. Me, for instance. And other adoptees and converts.
Ashkenazi is a shared set of traditions and historical and cultural identity associated with much of Europe, although there are other European Jewish traditions that are not Ashkenazi, such as Romaniote and Mountain Jews.

None of this is determined by DNA.
I'm never going to know if you are an Ashkenazi Jew based on looking at your genes. However, if you throw out all your rice once per year, it's a pretty big tipoff.
