Upon Arteta’s retirement Bellerín would state that:
“Mikel and his wife adopted me when I arrived,”

“I was just a kid and he was like a father to me.”

“He was fundamental to my integration at Arsenal. I’m very close to him,”
July 2016:

Bellerín believes he can become a leader and a supportive figure for younger players, similar to what Arteta was for Bellerín’s generation. “For me, it was a role I'm used to,"
“I had been speaking to the coach for a few months and he was telling me that I could be one of the people that could represent the team”
Starting out as mentor and mentee to now being the manager and most likely candidate for the captaincy, Bellerín and Arteta’s relationship has grown a lot and will continue to grow.
We could possibly see another iconic manager-player partnership as their relationship could prove to be pivotal to the success and rebuilding of Arsenal as they both know what it means to play for Arsenal and what the club should challenging for.
