Amanda Staveley's business partner in PCP, Craig Eadie, being cross examined by Barclays lawyer today. He's having a tough time. Calls into question what exactly PCP is. Hard to think of it as anything more than a broker/middleman at this point.
Among the interesting aspects from the court hearing have been details of the fight from PCP to get paid anything at all from Abu Dhabi following the deal. Initial amount offered was 5m GBP, eventually an agreement struck at 30m GBP. Reminder Staveley/PCP suing for 1.5bn GBP
Former Tory MP David Mellor at the centre of this, too. He was working as part of Staveley's team, and was also looking for a payday
Amanda Staveley's partner in PCP Craig Eadie confirmed in court this afternoon that at least in 2008, when Mansour's Barclays investment was made, PCP was essentially a two person company - he and Staveley.
Ordeal over for Craig Eadie. That was brutal.
What was also interesting were details of how Gulf royalty, at least in this instance, does business. It all seems very informal. In order to get paid Staveley had to drop $ on random men with access to Mansour. A Mr Chaloub and a Mr Hassanieh were among those namechecked
Craig Eadie back in court today. Court hears Manchester City takeover first material deal PCP/ Staveley had ever done.
Staveley made a new contact, Sheik Mansour, in the course of the Manchester City deal. She got to know him after that, and shortly after that started spending more time in the Gulf.
Eadie now being asked why PCP allowed itself to be perceived as an advisory company when it was not registered by the FSA. Discussion also turns on what PCP told the FSA when the regulator investigated it a decade ago
Staveley giving evidence now. It's uncomfortable.
Court broke for lunch amid discussion of fallout between David Mellor and Staveley. Last words before the break were about her feat that he would go to the press. Quite the remark given recent events.
*fear
Staveley on Sheikh Mansour: "He's my friend and will be for many years to come." He hasn't provided a witness statement or given evidence as Staveley had claimed.
Staveley now being pressed on convenient media leaks, including a letter she penned to Sheikh Mansour amid a dispute over commissions with Abu Dhabi officials and businessmen
Penny for Sheik Mansour's thoughts. His name coming up at every turn as discussion continues on tawdry efforts by a bunch of middlemen to get cut of Barclays commission
