this is the beginning of my new and improved “why little mix is the best girl group of our generation” thread. little mix are massively underrated and under appreciated despite their talent and hard work.
first, I think it’s necessary that we focus on their vocal ability. not just as a group but individually as well. but we’ll get to that later, let’s focus on them as a group.
their voices blend together beautifully. in my opinion it’s so hard to find a girl group who can harmonize like this recently. this video is one of my favourite examples to showcase their harmonies.
but it’s not all about harmonies. their ability to shine in their own light whilst not overshadowing each other in amazing. they provide back up vocals, main vocals, and BEATBOXING all in one acoustic performance. this was unrehearsed as well.
I think this is one of their best acoustic performances. it highlights all their voices well and shows how well they work together to create a beautiful arrangement.
they can all hold their own individually. there isn’t one member trying to out sing anyone, or one member just there for show. they combine their individual talents to be the best girl group they can be.
I also wanted to add this in because they sound amazing and they’re having so much fun. I think those are two very important things to see in an artist.
second, I want to focus on their dancing ability. not only can they serve killer vocals but they can do it whilst doing full choreography.
their stage presence alone is what takes their performances to the next level. when they’re on stage they’re always giving 110%
their choreo doesn’t always look complicated but that’s not what makes a great performance. it’s again the energy, the stage presence, and the delivery.
I know I’m really sticking to their choreo a lot, but I just feel like it’s such a huge part of why little mix is so great. anyone can execute choreo, but little mix give it their all no matter how exhausted they are and they do it well.
I’m done with the dancing now. I just think it’s rare these days to have a girl group who can do choreography well and in sync with no training. https://twitter.com/littlemixvocaIs/status/1132634655595945984/video/1
third, onto their production. this video highlights their vocal ability, dancing ability, and production value perfectly. these girls are performers!!
I think this performance is one of their bests. the whole vibe they’ve created with the production and the choreography is captivating. their stage presence is what seals it off as one of their bests for me.
I also wanted to focus on this performance because they managed to piece this together in the middle of a tour and whilst filming a music video. yet the performance is not lacking in any areas.
this is almost last one about their production and choreography. but I just love this performance it’s very theatrical and proves that they can put on an amazing show.
ok this is the last one I promise. but the way they didn’t miss a beat or skip a note amazes me. they then went on to do a fully choreographed routine whilst singing and stayed on top.
here’s a thread of their best performances if you’d like to see more!! https://twitter.com/harrybutterflys/status/1233963150191603718?s=21 https://twitter.com/darIingpearls/status/1233963150191603718
now I want to highlight each member individually along with their strengths. this is perrie edwards and she’s 26 (the youngest member). in my opinion her greatest strength is her insanely powerful voice.
perrie has the ability to make her voice sound light and delicate, but also full, raspy, and powerful. along with that she can seemingly hit any note in the alphabet with ease.
in my opinion this is one of perrie’s best covers and vocal moments in general. listen by beyoncé is a really hard song to sing and she seemingly does it with ease.
here’s another one of her best covers https://twitter.com/LMGlobaINews/status/1252313700914147328/video/1
I also think that perrie is a great dancer. it was a little rough at the start of the group but she’s improved a lot since then.
this is jade thrilwall and she’s 27. in my opinion her greatest strength would either have to be her voice as well, or her dancing. this almost “retro” sound with her falsetto sounds angelic.
the best way to describe jade when she dances is a badass bitch. sorry to break this professional front I’ve got going on but her stage presence just screams powerful. she’s so into it and she’s giving it her all.
her dancing is just so fluid and effortless, like it comes so naturally to her despite not having any background in dance prior to the group.
she’s very energetic, happy, sassy, and fluid. the girls even say that just by watching someone else do the choreo jade will have all the moves done and do it flawlessly.
this is leigh-anne and she’s 28. in my opinion her greatest strength would also have to be her vocals. but not only because of her singing ability, also because she can rap. she doesn’t do it often though.
here is another example of leigh-anne’s rapping ability. this is one of the only times she’s ever done it but it’s still one of her best skills. I think if they implemented this into more songs they would reach a new level.
leigh-anne’s actual singing ability however is very overlooked when she is the second strongest vocalist in the group, in my opinion. her stylistic choices are unique which I why I think people tend to overlook her voice. but she sings beautifully.
and just like perrie I think leigh anne is a great dancer. she’s also improved a lot from the first years of little mix.
this is jesy nelson and she is 28. jesy’s greatest strength would also have to be her voice in my opinion. her tone is very unique and she can beatbox although she doesn’t do it as much anymore.
her voice is very smokey and “shaky” but not in a bad way where her voice sounds unstable. the slight shake in her voice sounds technical and beautiful. she adds a new element to this girl group.
jesy is also a great dancer, but that’s not surprising because she does have a background in dance. she was going to be a dancer before she was put in little mix. https://twitter.com/jesyarchivex/status/1168272439018754050/video/1
as you can see this group is very multifaceted. they can sing, dance, beatbox, and rap. each member has a unique skill and strength that the other members don’t. those strengths are what make them such an amazing girl group when they work together.
here’s my recommendations for the top 3 little mix songs EVERYONE needs to listen to. or I’ll try and keep it at 3. this is woman like me, a collab they did with nicki minaj.
this is one of my favourites it’s called power. this is a very uplifting and powerful song about female empowerment.
my current favourite is called bounce back. it’s a fun song that just makes you wanna dance with some retro influence.
this isn’t the last song because I just can’t narrow it down to 3. but this is salute another female empowerment song. this song will make you feel like the independent and powerful woman that you are. https://twitter.com/leighannebounce/status/1209140809636995073/video/1
this is touch, it’s basically a picture perfect pop song. this is a good song to dance to or just chill to.
this is how ya doin’ and I had to add it in here. this is a fun retro pop song that puts you in a good mood. https://twitter.com/okayvictxria/status/899451206421979137/video/1
ok this is the 2nd to last one I promise. this ones called move and it’s a party track with a great beat that makes you want to MOVE. https://twitter.com/leighannebounce/status/1206650227647746048/video/1
ok this is the last song. this is wasabi and it’s easily their most iconic song. it came at such an amazing time because some drama was starting to come to the forefront and this song said everything they needed to say.
here’s a longer thread if you want to check out more of their music and don’t know where to start. https://twitter.com/harrybutterflys/status/1239059250594238464?s=21 https://twitter.com/darIingpearls/status/1239059250594238464
now I want to talk about what little mix stand for cause I don’t just wanna talk about how talented they are, I wanna talk about what great role models they are too. their biggest ones have always been body positivity and female empowerment.
they make music to educate people and stand up for their beliefs. they’re all strong and independent women who aren’t afraid to put themselves out there or blatantly call out the sexism they’ve experienced in the industry.
here’s the most recent example of the sexism they’ve had to face in this industry. piers morgan went on to continuously harass the girls on twitter meanwhile the girls stayed professional and came back in the best way, which I’ll show you right now
https://www.youtube.com/embed/cK9uw3cIS9g
https://www.youtube.com/embed/cK9uw3cIS9g
this was how they got back at p*ers and anyone who was sexist towards them. I think it’s absolutely brilliant. this is part of what made wasabi their most iconic song. the entire attitude of this intro was badass and I have nothing but respect for them.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/XUHwCK4wKPU
https://www.youtube.com/embed/XUHwCK4wKPU
but that’s not all they stand for. they also stand up against cyberbully, they’ve opened up about their anxiety and racism they’ve faced. here is a preview of jesy’s documentary “odd one out” which is about her struggle with bullying.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/idyXOMAZOUg
https://www.youtube.com/embed/idyXOMAZOUg
here is perrie’s interview will glamour where she talks about her struggle with anxiety. I love that the girls recognize how important it is for them to speak up about these things given the platforms they have.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/dg1jmYIA_Ak
https://www.youtube.com/embed/dg1jmYIA_Ak
here is leigh-anne’s interview with glamour where she address’s the online hate and racism she’s experienced. now that she’s opened up about this she’s become a bigger inspiration for the black community and I couldn’t be more proud of her.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/5LBYny0G9bk
https://www.youtube.com/embed/5LBYny0G9bk
and here is jade’s interview where she discusses her struggle with anorexia. I really think this is going to help a lot of young kids going through the exact same thing. they can see that it does get better and they need to get better.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/3l6KPwMEG1E
https://www.youtube.com/embed/3l6KPwMEG1E
now you might be think ok that’s it. but no, they also show endless amounts of support for the lgbtq+ community. it’s impossible to fit everything they’ve done into one video but I think this video does a pretty good job.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/HSC3P6qzsy4
https://www.youtube.com/embed/HSC3P6qzsy4
I really want to highlight how hard these girls work. one insane example is that they went on tour with ariana grande, rehearsed and performed at the brits, and filmed an entire music video all at the same time in the same days. here’s a video,
https://www.youtube.com/embed/6aC9NfgJ93M
https://www.youtube.com/embed/6aC9NfgJ93M
something I think is rare is a girl group that are genuinely friends. it’s unfortunate but true and little mix have the most genuine friendship I’ve ever seen. they’re all so loving and supportive of each other, here’s a video for a better look.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/PeU7Zn-qaJg
https://www.youtube.com/embed/PeU7Zn-qaJg
but besides the talent, what they stand for, and their friendship they all have amazing personalities. It’s impossible to not love them and I think this video will highlight that and put a smile on your face.

https://www.youtube.com/embed/_Le0fc0km0U
now this thread is basically over because I’ve covered all the points I wanted to. but I’m going to link a few more videos I really hope everyone watches and I think just add onto why they’re the best.
