Why Believix is NOT a plot hole & why it is one of the best transformations in Winx Club: a thread 🧚‍♀️✨
This thread will be split into two parts. I’ll go over why Believix is not a plot hole first.
Also SPECIAL thanks to @nowhitedress and @TheWorldOfWinx for helping me make this thread. You guys ROCK! ❤️
Critics argue that Believix is a plot hole because Enchantix was said to be the last transformation in Season 3.
This is false. Let me explain why in depth.
Here's a clip of S3 in the Rai dub. Faragonda mentions how Enchantix is part of their final exam in order to become full-fledged fairies. She calls it the "final transformation" in terms of Alfea’s academics. Enchantix is needed in order to pass their 3rd year and graduate.
While it is true that Enchantix was planned to be the last transformation the Winx would get, and the first movie would be the finale of the series, the dialogue in that video leaves it open enough for the other forms that come afterwards to make sense.
Therefore, this proves that Enchantix is ONLY the final fairy form in Alfea’s curriculum, not necessarily the final fairy form ever in general. I don’t know why people fail to understand this. Even the Winx wiki confirms it: https://winx.fandom.com/wiki/Enchantix_(Form)
If this isn’t enough proof for you, then go to Winx Club’s OWN OFFICIAL WEBSITE. On the 6th photo of Season 3, it says that Enchantix is part of their final exam. See the attached image and you can also check it out for yourself here: https://www.winxclub.com/en/winx-story/3
Sure, Faragonda has also used the words “final fairy form” in other scenes too, but it’s never used outside the context of Alfea’s academics. Here is another clip from Season 3.
Also, I would just like to say that the words “full-fledged” does not mean “final” or “last”. It means maturity and fully developed. A fairy with Enchantix has finally grown into her powers. Think of Enchantix as going into adulthood and graduating from college.
This is why in S4, Faragonda says there's an infinite magic levels a fairy can reach. A fairy’s life is an endless journey. She's not wrong. Just like in real life, our journey doesn’t stop once we graduate. We make progress, we evolve, we change. We don’t stay the same forever.
Some also argue that Believix is a plot hole because higher levelled fairy forms were never mentioned before in the older seasons. They think it’s “convenient” how Faragonda suddenly mentions it in S4, Believix’s season.
No. This argument makes no sense.
Obviously Faragonda wouldn’t talk about Believix and higher levelled fairy forms in the older seasons because it wasn’t relevant to the plot. Just like how Enchantix was never mentioned in the other seasons before it. That doesn’t make it a plot hole.
Believix is not studied at Alfiea, as it is not a normal fairy level. Thus, it wouldn’t make sense for Faragonda to talk about it in the first place because Believix isn't in Alfea’s curriculum. Unlike Enchantix, Believix isn’t a required transformation to get for a normal fairy.
People tend to use this argument a lot; they say that Believix is a plot hole because Enchantix fairies can just use fairy dust against the Wizards of the Black Circle.
This is also false which I will explain.
During Medieval times, they created a powerful spell which made them immune to fairy magic, murdered many earth fairies and absorbed their magic. You seriously think the Wizards didn’t factor in fairy dust into whatever magic they used to make themselves immune? They aren’t dumb.
This was also a VERY long time ago. You really don’t think a fairy would’ve tried to use fairy dust on them already? Besides, fairy dust can only break curses as a result of dark spells. For example, Aisha’s blindness, Valtor’s marks, etc. An immunity spell isn’t a curse.
Fairy Dust is also unable to break ancient magic. In Season 3, Faragonda was cursed & trapped in an old oak tree using ancient hibernation magic. You wanna know what else is ancient? The Wizards of the Black Circle’s immunity spell created centuries ago.
Enchantix was useless against the Wizards because they were immune to their fairy magic. The Winx needed a new transformation that is powered by another source, which is the humans’ belief in magic. Thus, Believix is not a plot hole.
People have also said Believix is a plot hole because Roxy skipped 3 whole transformations and went straight to Believix.
This is incorrect. In S4, Bloom says that Roxy does not have Believix powers. Therefore, she’s not a Believix fairy in the show.
Roxy doesn’t have access to Speedix, Tracix or Zoomix wings. She couldn’t get Sophix or Lovix either. She’s mistaken for a Believix fairy due to her outfit and wings. It’s like a weird hybrid between base level and Believix.
The reason why her fairy form looks like this is because she was planned to be the 7th fairy. During the S4 era, in interviews, Iginio classed her as the 7th fairy of Winx Club. They probably made her outfit look like a basic Believix because Iginio wanted her to skip ahead.
There’s even an episode in S4 called “7: The Perfect Number” so clearly they planned for her to be the 7th fairy. Nick scrapped that idea in S5 because they knew it was a bad idea. She’s not a Believix fairy in the show & she never will be.
What’s interesting about Roxy is that she was revealed to be a Believix fairy on May 7th 2016 when the Winx Club official YouTube channel released this video: . It was also revealed in a poll on the official website years ago.
However, in the show she’s NOT a Believix fairy, which was confirmed by Bloom in S4. Sure, she might be MARKETED as a Believix fairy on social media to sell dolls and other merchandise, but if we’re going by the show’s OWN logic then she doesn’t have Believix.
People also say that Believix and higher levelled transformations are a plot hole because Griffin said that Faragonda is an Enchantix fairy.
This is very wrong.
Just because Griffin revealed that Faragonda was an Enchantix fairy at one point, doesn’t mean she still IS one. Here is the clip in S3 where she reveals this. She talks about the time when Faragonda first used fairy dust. This doesn’t prove that she’s still an Enchantix fairy.
Faragonda is confirmed to be over 100 years old. Do you really think she would stop at the Enchantix level? Just like she said herself, a fairy’s life is an endless journey. She would’ve achieved many, many more transformations by now.
Critics also say that Believix is a plothole because Stella made Bloom’s parents believe in magic in the first episode. They say that she should’ve gotten her Believix in that episode.
This argument doesn’t make any sense.
Of course she wouldn’t be able to earn Believix. She was an inexperienced fairy. Faragonda says that Believix is a level ABOVE Enchantix, meaning a fairy needs to earn her Enchantix first before getting any higher levelled transformations. It's literally common sense.
Now that we’ve established that Believix is not a plot hole, I’d like to discuss why it is one of the best transformations in Winx Club. ✨
Let’s first talk about Believix’s concept. People tend to think that Believix is an earth-exclusive transformation. However, it can actually be earned on any worlds without magic and it’s powered by the belief from the inhabitants of those worlds.
In the Winx Club comics, there are many worlds other than Earth where magic is misunderstood and/or uncommon. Some of these worlds include the Kingdom of Thordal, a farmland where Flora’s friend Jessie lives, and Terramaris’ Blue Bay region.
While the Kingdom of Thordal does have magic, it’s still in its primitive stages. It’s very rare and misunderstood. We only see the court wizard, Sargon, operating black magic he has no control over. Even Sargon himself was shocked that he did that.
In an unnamed farmland where Flora’s old classmate resides, you can see the people in the world are wary of fairies and magic. They act like they don’t know/trust magic that well.
On the planet Seantis in Terramaris’ Blue Bay region, people seem shocked when they see the Winx transform and they’re unfamiliar with fairies. Here are two different screenshots where the people are confused and shocked by their existence.
Now that we have established the presence of other non-magical worlds in the Winx universe, this shows that Believix isn’t just earth-exclusive. It’s simply one of the few places we know where there are people who don’t believe in magic.
As the Winx’s mission was on Earth in Season 4 because they were looking for the last Earth fairy and they needed to combat the Wizards of the Black Circle, this was where they earned their Believix.
Hence, their Believix outfits are more casual, fitting the Earth theme. Their outfits reflect the fashion of the world its earned on. I believe they did a great job at emulating a more modern look. I especially adore Tecna’s, Flora’s and Musa’s Believix forms.
Some may say the Believix wings are too tacky because they’re large, but I love them. It showcases their personalities and their powers really well. Tecna, Flora and Musa definitely have the best wings. While Stella’s wings could’ve been done better, I’m not that fussed about it.
Now that I think about it, the Believix wings were probably designed to be large and colourful to be more marketable towards a younger audience, especially Bloom’s and Stella’s wings. The Believix dolls were really good.
There is a misconception that the Winx only earned Believix by forcing Roxy to believe in them. This is false. Did you forget that in earlier episodes, the Winx opened a fairy pet shop to make people believe in magic more?
However, the Love&Pet shop wasn’t enough on its own to make people believe, but put that with the Winx flying around town & being noticed, it starts to make people believe & think about the existence of magic. Roxy believing in the Winx episodes later was just the tipping point.
Believix is a form powered by belief. It becomes stronger when more people believe in magic. If a Believix fairy doesn’t continue to make people believe in magic, then her powers will weaken.
When the Winx first got their Believix, it was still considerably weak when they battled the Wizards. This was because there weren’t that many people who believed in magic and Roxy truly didn’t believe in the Winx at first.
As more and more people started to believe in magic and as Roxy starts to trust them more, the Believix power grew stronger. By 4x13, the Believix magic noticeably gotten stronger and the Wizards became extremely weak.
This was also shown in 5x05. When more people believed in the Winx, they became a lot stronger and defeated the Trix.
Believix gets criticised for its “repetitive generic energy beams and shields”. I disagree. People forget about some of Believix’s best spells. I compiled a clip of my favourites. This was originally a lot longer but I had to cut it down. Movie/comics spells aren't included btw.
Believix enables a fairy to reach the heart of the people and their feelings, giving them the power to heal, using their new therapeutic magic. They can help overcome people's bad habits/weaknesses. Here’s my favourite: Aisha helps a poor girl to defend herself against a thief.
Believix has 3 extra sets of wings: Speedix, Tracix and Zoomix. While I’m not a fan of the unnecessary sequences for each wing, I really do like them and I think it gives Believix an edge. People tend to say that these extra wings are useless & pointless. I completely disagree.
Speedix wings gives a fairy a speed boost and it is mainly used as a skill. It allows a Believix fairy to avoid magic rays and oncoming attacks.
Tracix wings allows a fairy to look into the past. People say it's the most useless because it's not used as much as the other wings. However, if it weren’t for Tracix, we wouldn’t have been able to know about the white circle’s past and where the Earth fairies are located.
Zoomix allows a fairy to teleport to a specific location. Sure, Stella can already teleport with the Solaria ring. However, she has to know the place VERY well to be able to teleport. Whilst Zoomix can teleport you anywhere without restrictions. You don’t have to rely on a spell.
Along with these amazing additions, we also have two sub-transformations called Sophix and Lovix which are arguably EVEN BETTER designed than the original Believix. I especially love Flora’s Sophix and Aisha’s & Stella’s Lovix. These looks deserve so much better.
Believix haters argue that there’s too many unnecessary upgrades with the transformation. Nah, just say you’re jealous that Believix got the best treatment out of all the fairy forms and go.
Believix is also shown to use fairy dust. They used fairy dust to minitaurise and enter the barn. This is the ONLY transformation other than Enchantix where fairy dust can still be accessed, which makes me like Believix even more.
According to the comics, Roxy and the Believix fairies can use their powers underwater perfectly fine. Season 5 made Believix extremely weak underwater just to introduce Harmonix, an unnecessary transformation.
I’d like to say that Believix also has one of the best transformation songs AND the best transformation sequence of all time. Everything about it is so perfect.
I hope this thread has changed your opinions on the Believix transformation. It is NOT a plot hole and it deserves sooo much better. It paved the way for new transformations that come after it. PERIODT. 🧚‍♀️✨
