amaan ullah khan | an enigmatic .
1. amaan comes across quite fascinating since the first frame as there is more to him than meets the eye. The mysterious aura around him intrigues us as viewers to see behind his calm, composed, put-together self. #YehDilMera
1. amaan comes across quite fascinating since the first frame as there is more to him than meets the eye. The mysterious aura around him intrigues us as viewers to see behind his calm, composed, put-together self. #YehDilMera
2.Obsession. Having witnessed his family being shot & burnt at a young age, amaan obsesses over death throughout the show. He uses references like flowers belong in the graveyard..he casually asks aina in one scene if she is scared of death? He repeatedly mentions his own death +
He also settles his family's 'kabristan' along with him wherever he goes. Similarly, he is shown to self inflict pain and confess, his father bled more during his death. Amaan even recreates his parent's death scene in his head and shivers at the thought of burning. #YehDilMera
3. Impulsive. Amaan appears to be extremely sorted, he plans every little action with grave detailing to the point of obsession. But when touched upon his trigger points from childhood trauma, he behaves erratically. He often converses with himself like a madman. #YehDilMera
4. Cynical. Its established Maani hasn't witnessed a normal childhood. So it isn't surprising for him to distrust everyone around him. He keeps his skeptical eye on every acquaintance in his life. Sheru, his four-legged pet is the only one he calls a loyal friend. #YehDilMera
5. Fear of abandonment. This has been depicted through his painful night terrors. It becomes worst when Aina declares she is going to leave him. He has a series of panic attacks on the same night while chanting, 'everyone has left me, please don't leave me' to aina. #YehDilMera
6. Depression. It's quite evident that amaan is clinically depressed with occasional syncope attacks. He somehow uses the piano as an escape as well as imprisonment. While playing the piano, it often seems as if, he is communicating with his dead mother to escape loneliness.++
The writers have structured amaan's house in a way that signifies his mental health. There is a certain level of cold and emptiness attached to it. Ironically, the presence of aina uplifts the mood of the house to a certain level. #YehDilMera
7. Conscience. Despite the dark streaks in him, amaan is shown to have a conscience which differentiates him from Farooq. Eventhough, he initially plans to harm aina, his guilty conscience comes into play. Her innocence reminds him of the values his family held. #YehDilMera
8.Vengeance. After the death of his family, amaan comes across as a lost child. He gets a sense of purpose through his will to get justice & holds. The writers have cleverly intertwined MirFarooq's dark acts which make us justify amaan's rude actions and root for him. #YehDilMera
Okay! So that was my amateur attempt at character interpretation of amaan. Had much more to say but the word limit here doesn't let me
Anyway, I think it's quite clear how much I loved this character since I don't these threads often :P
