you know which rarepair suddenly slammed into me at 120mph and has left skid marks on my brain? Yamaguchi and Inuoka...

like, yams is the only first year not to be a regular so he is only a pinch server on the team. but he knows he& #39;ll have to get an actual position in future...

but he& #39;s not a setter (that& #39;s kags) and tsukki and hinata are already middle blockers which means he will have to be a wing spiker if he wants to play.

inuoka was a regular middle blocker for nekoma before lev arrived and had to switch to wing spiker so he could have a chance...

to continue playing. he knows he has to work harder to become a regular again and despite being a great player his overall skill isn& #39;t enough compared to lev& #39;s height.

now imagine them meeting at the training camps. yams stays back to practice his serves late at night and...

is thinking about how he needs to improve his overall game sense if he doesn& #39;t want to be passed over for new first years in the next season.

inuoka might pass by the gym also thinking about how he needs to keep working harder and seeing yams he asks to join his practice...

so yams serves and inuoka practices trying to receive and they& #39;re both pretty bright (although inuoka is rather like hinata in temperament while yams is a little quieter) but they actually have plenty to talk about as they& #39;re hitting the ball back and forth...

and inuoka talks about how he got replaced by lev and had to change his position and is determined to prove he deserves a regular spot on the team. and yams talks about how spiker is the only position he could fill but he hasn& #39;t really gotten much specific practice....

and these two cute boys make a pact that they will do extra training together for the rest of camp. inuoka helps yams with his spiking practice while yams in return starts trying to show inuoka how to do a float serve to make him stand out from the other nekoma members...

for the whole week they practice together and they both really enjoy having someone else to talk to because for yams he has tsukki who doesn& #39;t really talk back much so it& #39;s a change for him, while inuoka usually spends time with shibiyama who is pretty shy and reserved...

and they actually become good friends, talking about lots of things outside of just volleyball and school as well.

then during their last training match of the camp it just so happens that when yams is brought in as a pinch server inuoka is on the back line for nekoma...

yams gets a service ace off his first serve but for the second one inuoka receives it perfectly setting up nekoma to score a point.

karasuno start to try cheer yams up about his serve getting received but immediately from the other side of the net suddenly inuoka is yelling...

"TADASHI THAT WAS A GREAT SERVE!" with a big smile and a thumbs up and yams just laughs and waves back and is like "that was the first time you received it properly sou, nice job." and both teams are looking between the two first years like what is going on...

and suga gives yams a bit of a nudge when he gets back to the sidelines and yams just grins and blushes a little and goes back to watching the game and cheering loudly for karasuno (and in his head for inuoka).

then at the end of camp they say their goodbyes...

they already exchanged numbers like three days ago so they& #39;re just like talking and saying encouraging words and being excited to meet again in a proper match soon and then when yams is called to go for the bus he gives inuoka a big hug and gets it returned before running off...

hinata is like "i didn& #39;t know you guys were friends" and suga is giving him a Look(TM) and when he sits down next to tsukki for the journey home he just says something like "you seem happy" before he puts his headphones on and closes his eyes to sleep...

so yams and inuoka keep in contact really often sending each other texts nearly every day and it& #39;s only volleyball related like 50% of the time, the rest of the time its inuoka going "i got a free bar from the vending machine today!" or...

yams will send him a photo of a dog and be like "this puppy reminded me of you! look how cute he is!" and they both grow even closer despite the distance and it isn& #39;t until ennoshita asks yams why he& #39;s smiling at his phone so much and noya/tanaka are like "GIRLFRIEND???"....

that he realises that oh he has a crush on his friend inuoka who sometimes just sends him an emoji and nothing else and then three hours later will be like "oh by the way the stars told me to remind you to make sure you eat dinner tonight" and yeah he really likes him a lot...

so he freaks out a bit and panics but talking to inuoka is so easy because says weird stupid caring things and his messages never have hidden meanings or trick questions and he never expects anything from yams except that he takes care of himself...

and when their teams meet again for another training match next year inuoka is back being a regular player on the team because he has put in so much hard work and yams is playing a little more regularly although he is still mostly a pinch server...

after their several sets and when everyone is exhausted yams goes over to inuoka and offers him a water bottle and they just sit together and talk and it& #39;s not weird because they text all the time so it& #39;s just a continuation of the last conversation they had and it feels right...

so before nekoma all leave yams pulls inuoka aside and tells him that he likes him a lot and inuoka is like "i really like you too, tadashi" and yams thinks he has to clarify that he means as more than friends but inuoka leans down and gives him a kiss on the cheek...

but then tora is calling for him so he has to go but he smiles at yams and squeezes his hand and says he& #39;ll text when he gets home safely and yams is left there bright pink blushing and feeling like he& #39;s dreaming before tsukki comes over and is like "lets go home lover boy"...

and they start dating kinda sorta. its hard when they live so far apart but they still talk all the time but inuoka is way more heavy on the compliments now and it makes yams blush every single time but he is so happy and he can& #39;t wait for their next training match...

the next time they do meet up yams waves hi and goes to walk over calmly like a normal person but inuoka just runs over and picks yams up and gives him a kiss on the cheek and is like "I& #39;ve been waiting ages to do that again" and yams is bright red when inuoka puts him down...

but he has gotten two kisses now and given none and he really really likes inuoka so he squares his shoulders and reaches up and pulls inuoka down for a proper kiss on the lips and they& #39;re both surprised and pull away blushing but they& #39;re so happy they can& #39;t stop smiling....

both of their teams tease the crap out of them and for the whole training camp they spend all their free time together and yams sticks his tongue out at hinata who makes kissy faces at the two of them while inuoka puts an arm over his shoulder and pulls him close to his side...

and they& #39;re just super duper cute together and everyone can& #39;t help smiling when they see them talking or holding hands or practicing together. they also sneak a lot of kisses during the camp and yams refuses to tell tanaka and noya how many times he kissed him with a giggle...

after training camp they try to travel to see each other more often and they continue to text and call all of the time and they even do homework together over calls and yams has never been happier and more confident because he has a boyfriend who encourages him all the time...

of course both sets of parents love them because inuoka is like a puppy and he& #39;s just so enthusiastic while yams is very polite and funny and its so clear to see how happy they make one another even just being in the same room together they& #39;re always smiling...

this got so long omg but just... inuoka sou and yamaguchi tadashi are my new favourite rare pair so i guess i need to go make content for them. thanks for enduring my rambly feelings.
