all cops are “bad” because all people are inherently susceptible to the delights of authoritative power. we cannot secure liberation by changing the players because all players are powerless to the weight of the roles they are assigned, powerless to the psychology of our system.
simultaneously, and in part because we are all driven by the will to power, abolishment of the authoritative system would leave us at the mercy of another far more brutal system—the laws of darwinism. sad conundrum of the human condition.
footage of police brutality from around the world—including the states that have been characterized as overarchingly humanitarian—is evidence that even the authoritative systems that have been radically modified for maximum “benevolence” suffer the same inescapable psychology.
wrenching to watch as activists attempt to pulverize the issue rather than acknowledging it for what it is: an unsolvable problem to be mediated rather than “fixed.” we are incapable of “disappearing” the ills of authoritative power, we must instead find new ways to live with it
