Like most of you guys, since 1990s I have heard stories about match fixing scandals in Pakistani cricket team. I never looked into it until just recently, I read in full the Justice Qayyum Report.
All of us know that Saleem Malik was banned for life, but do you guys know that the following players were fined due to enough suspicion of involvement, namely; Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Mushtaq Ahmed, Inzamam ul Haq, Saeed Anwar, Akram Raza, Ata ur Rehman.
The head of commission for inquiry, Justice Qayyum was himself a tainted guy, he first accepted he was kind to Wasim Akram as he was his favourite player, and later his corruption was proven by his involvement in a scandal with Shehbaz Sharif.
We do celebrate our heroes but remain ignorant of these facts. After reading the Qayyum report in full, I have no doubt what so ever that even though these guys mentioned above were legendary players, all of them were match fixers.
Fines given by the commission to following players
Apparently it all started with Asif Iqbal fixing the toss.
Things were so bad, Holy Quran had to be brough in so players could swear on it.
Aaqib Javedโ€™s testimony.
Bookie freely mixing with players, getting offers for fixing.
This Saleem Parvez guy eventually got through to Mushtaq Ahmed.
Mushtaq Ahmed allegedly receiving $100,000 and also being stupid in front of the court.
Rashid Latif being brave, took matters in to his own hands and tried to do a sting operation himself by conducting audio recordings.
If you are not the sort of guy who likes to read, check out this video on YouTube. Allegations on Wasim Akram in Justice Qayyum Report explained in a simple manner.
