#blackoutuesday #BlackLivesMatter
It’ll take more than a black phone screen and a hashtag. Below is a thread of different resources that you should use to take this beyond flexing for social media.
For my fellow West Virginians; vote. If we want to enact change on the systemic level it also takes using methods of the system. https://sos.wv.gov/elections/Pages/ApplyAbsenteeBallot.aspx
This is the Facebook page for the WV chapter of Black Lives Matter. If they have an official Twitter page, DM me and I’ll add it to the thread. https://m.facebook.com/BlackLivesMatterWV/
Oh yeah, there’s also a protest in Clarksburg tomorrow at 4 PM. Wear masks and be safe.
Another thing; watch 13th on Netflix or Crime + Punishment on Hulu. Racism is an integral part of the policies and practices of our societal systems like law enforcement and the legal system to this day, and you’re an idiot or worse if you don’t think so.
Cops in the street aren’t the only ones killing innocents. It’s our failed justice system, which encourages lawyers to give up their clients’ right to a defense, pits people against each other , and executes them. Julius Jones deserves his life back. http://chng.it/vvkrbMQYrv
(Thi is also a plug for two of my favorite apps ever, Letterboxd and JustWatch) On a more lighthearted note; a gigantic list of films that could help educate you on intersectional issues. I’ll admit to only seeing a couple. Let’s have a watch party. https://boxd.it/5Fh0U
