You would think that before police and co started firing into crowds they would attempt to use some kind of auditory dispersal method but nonetheless BE PREPARED!! It would be wise to bring earplugs to any protest or gathering you plan on attending, in 1/8
addition to goggles/hard hats/other protective measures. Maybe a pair with a cord so you can easily reach them, but don’t put them in until there is reason to do so!! You don’t want to be accused of not cooperating because you’re unable to hear them. Please stay safe 2/8
& protect your eyes and ears the best you can. I’m not sure how effective ear plugs are against sonic weapons, but it’s worth trying. Heres some info about the effects/use:
1. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1008916
Tl;dr dizziness, nausea, lasting ear damage, persistent migraines, confusion 3/8
3. https://www.azmirror.com/blog/what-is-it-like-when-the-police-use-an-lrad-sound-cannon-to-disperse-a-crowd/
Tl;dr sound cannons can “make [your] head feel like it’s going to pop; make [your] brain feel like a bowl of vibrating jelly”; more lasting damage, likely due to the device. Recommends ear plugs 5/8
If you have the resources to bring extras, do so!! I’m attaching some links to places you might be able to get gear but def check it your local store is open first. Also if you have links to donation pools for protective gear for protestors, pls reply!! It’s 6/8
probably not a good idea to reply w your Venmo if you plan on going to a protest— but if there is any way to privately donate to someone attending, leave suggestions!! Places to get protection:
