Breaking from my usual flow because I gotta say stuff that's long overdue. Unfollow if you must - metrics don't matter to me.
What has been going on in this country is unacceptable. The police should not be allowed to continue doing what they've been doing for decades.

I was raised in a steady diet of Dragnet, COPS, and all manner of reality cop shows. What I was never taught was that what I was seeing was never the full story. Where the cameras were cut, where editing hid facts. History books never taught me about Stonewall, or MLK's death.
There is a lot about the sordid history of America's treatment of all manner of minorities that I've largely had to learn within the last few years, as it all repeats itself for the umpteenth time. Cops are still out there killing people for no reason, and not getting punished.
While, frankly, I'm too chickenshit to go join the protests, and I don't have any good links to give you all for places to donate to for support (they're EVERYWHERE, at least, so finding one isn't hard), I do want to say, black lives matter.
Someone will say "but ALL lives matter" - not all lives matter until black lives do. It's a thing of progression. They're having a damned hard time convincing the Authorities that they have a right to EXIST.
I admit I have zero knowledge of what it's Really Like out there. It all filters to me through what the people I know feel is worth spreading. It all goes through several levels of auxiliary outrage before I hear any of it. And I'll admit, sometimes, I tune it all out.
But it is happening, out there. There is suffering, pain, gross injustice. One shouldn't think that the demands of the many would be that hard to fulfill. "Stop killing black people for no reason."
Until those demands get met, and the corrupt and broken system that violates them is dismantled, this will keep happening.
I will not be responding to replies about this thread, by the way. Not that arguing with me with accomplish much of anything on the bigger picture.
Oh, and happy Pride month. I'm sticking up for all of y'all, too.
