I just talked with my friend @jsamimifarr and want to share thoughts.

1. We don't know where the future is going to come from, but we can all agree it won't be from within our current system, which is unresponsive and dying.
2. So the task is to imagine our new world. What will it look like? Who will we be?

3. We are both musicians so we thought about the future of music. What will it be for?
4. I mentioned how this video illustrated to me the basic point of music -- it's about solidarity, it's about our souls. https://twitter.com/i/status/1267266281041952768
5. Taking that as the foundation: how can music be of service in our new world?

Forget "artists" and "audiences", forget "geniuses", forget "bands". Forget the archetype of the "rock star" or "pop star". Leave it in the past.

How can music be of service? How can it serve us?
6. We have to think outside the box because the box is on fire. What new world do we want to inhabit when the dust settles?

With respect to music, as well as everything else.
7. I will keep making music my whole life, but I don't want to return to the same old system that music used to be a part of. I don't want the audience to be separate from me the performer. I want to sing songs together. I want music to be of service.
8. I also don't have any answers myself as to what that new world will look like, I'm just asking questions and sharing thoughts.

I think all of us artists have put a lot of time and energy into imagining, and I think it would feel good to think about how we can be of service.
