Today is the 1-year anniversary of me quitting my job and going all-in on online business.

During that 1-year, I accomplished a major dream of mine:

I started my own SEO agency, and I did 6-figures!

Here are 10 things I learned over this last year.

[THREAD]
1. Money is a direct result of how much value you can provide.

If you have very little to offer, you'll have a tough time making money.

Develop a skill or body of knowledge that provides value to others, and you'll never have a problem making money.
2. Doing what 'everyone else does' is how you lose.

Most people lack ambition and are incredibly lazy.

For them, weekends are for binge drinking and picking up 4s at the club.

And they're happy with that.

But if you want more out of life, you need to stop following the herd.
If you do what everyone else does, I guarantee you'll be exactly where they are 10 years from now.

Trust me when I say you don't want to be there.

But if you forge your own path, ignore the noise and put in the work..

You'll be much further ahead.

Being average is a choice.
3. Learn to embrace failure.

Every business goal you have will come with obstacles you need to overcome.

As a result, you're going to fail... a lot.

You need to learn to become your own problem-solver and bounce back from failure.

This is a requirement.
4. Never stop learning.

When you put $100k+ in your bank account, let's just say your ego inflates a little bit.

At that point, you may think you've figured it all out.

You haven't.

There's always room for growth, and you need to recognize that.

You need to keep improving.
5. Develop discipline.

As your own boss, it's easy to say "fuck it" and just not work when you don't feel like it.

There's no one to tell you no!

But you can't do that.

You need to develop the discipline of delaying short-term gratification for long-term success.
6. Develop a solid team.

You can't scale a business without having a smart people working for you

I've developed a small, core team that I can rely on to do quality work, and it has helped immensely.

My clients wouldn't get the results they do without these people.
7. Keep a journal for your thoughts.

Online business can get stressful.

And it can become really unhealthy when those stressors stay on your mind all-day, well after you've finished work.

So you need some sort of outlet to release those stressors.
While lifting does help me deal with those stressors, keeping a journal has helped the most.

I have a 'Mind-Dump' journal where I essentially vomit all of my thoughts.

30 minutes and 2,000 words later (with a lot of explicits), my mind is clear and stress-free.
8. Don't sacrifice your health.

It's easy to stop working out when you're caught up in your online business.

But you need to make time for it.

Staying healthy is just as important as building wealth.

And a good lifting session often results in a more productive work day.
9. Have fun with it.

What's the point of having the freedom of online business if you're not enjoying it?

You don't need to grind and hustle 24/7.

You're allowed to go out and have fun.

Downtime is important in preventing burnout, which is very real.
Nowadays, my "fun" is a bit more extravagant than a night out at some shitty dive bar.

This last February, I dropped $7k on a last-minute Super Bowl ticket and sat three rows from the front.

So go big.

You've earned it.
10. Don't give up.

In my opinion, making money is one of the hardest things to do in the world.

Getting to the point I'm at right now took countless hours of hard work.

So don't listen to idiots saying online business is "easy" -- it's not.
Don't feel bad if your hard work doesn't appear to be paying off.

Keep working.

Keep learning.

And if you'll get it eventually.

As much as money is a product of the value you can provide, it's also a product of the time you spend trying to acquire it.
