Searching for something else, stumbled across this again. On one hand it’s nice to know the main (7?) books are “supreme canon” and the other 📚(WOIAF, F&B, etc) are semi-canon, but those are also the same reasons why this idea can be a bummer.
So,we know GRRM said this about the sisters names,“The names Arya and Sansa are meant to represent the polar opposites of their characters,Arya being a hard sounding name, Sansa a softer more pretty name, etc.,” but where did Arya itself come from??? Robert E Howard #Martinworld
Morning chats reminded me of the idea that some readers cling too hard to the idea that GRRM “doesn’t do” dark lords. This is something I’ve pointed out before, but it’s not the dark lord aspect itself, but lack of development as to *why* they are so dark. https://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php?/topic/150809-heresy-208-winter-is-coming/&do=findComment&comment=8164363
The level of grossness that Littlefinger is capable of knows no limit.
More name junk & stuff. GRRM once japed w/me that Jeyne Poole is pronounced "Gene Poole", & why the E at the end? Answer in #TufVoyaging w/the genetic engineering seed ship... It flies!🦄He uses 'puling' 93 times in a story about genes, and 'pule' means weepy. Jeyne weeps alot.
This entire video is great (lots of HP Lovecraft/Essos inspos,no "reveals" for oily black stone) but also for what GRRM says about his maps from ~31m->38m mark. If you like the world maps, thank the publishers...but this is also part of the delay of TWOW.
Q: Is A Song of Ice and Fire a parallelism or a criticism to our society?
GRRM: No. My work is not an allegory to our days.
"I planned Dany’s thing long before George Bush planned the Iraq War, but I think both military adventures may come to the same end, but it’s not allegory.”
