(WOIAF, F&B, etc) are semi-canon, but those are also the same reasons why this idea can be a bummer.

Morning chats reminded me of the idea that some readers cling too hard to the idea that GRRM “doesn’t do” dark lords. This entire video is great (lots of HP Lovecraft/Essos inspos,no "reveals" for oily black stone) but also for what GRRM says about his maps from ~31m->38m mark. If you like the world maps, thank the publishers...but this is also part of the delay of TWOW.
