Lets bust some common myths I see so frequently pertaining to health and fitness

There are many people out there spreading nonfactual information so I wanted to take some time to clear things up

After all knowledge is power

~You might want to save for later~
1. You can out train an unhealthy diet

This is not possible, you can jog for hours, do hill sprints, lift weights etc

At the end of the day you WILL gain weight if you consume more calories than you are burning

Try tracking food intake, as many of us over eat unknowingly
2. Egg whites are good, yolks are bad

You can eat the whole egg!

Yes I know crazy right?

Contrary to belief the yolks are full of iron, B-vitamins, folate and vitamins that support brain and eye health!

So don& #39;t be afraid and eat that whole egg
3. You can target or spot reduce body fat

This is not possible, everyone loses body fat from all different areas on the body

We do not get to chose where the fat comes off

This results from a calorie deficit, it takes patience and consistency
4. Women will bulk up like men if using weights

Men and women have different hormones

Ex. When men lift weights, we have higher testosterone levels than women

Causing quicker/more muscle gain

Ladies don& #39;t avoid resistance training due to this myth you won& #39;t get all bulky
5. Long cardio sessions are required to get in great cardiovascular shape

high intensity interval training only requires 10-20 minutes and includes benefits like:

-High calorie burn
-Reduce HR and blood pressure
-After burn effect(burn cals post workout)
-Can build muscle
6. Supplements are required to get in shape

Supplements are expensive and typically have fillers and unnecessary ingredients

My typical opinion on this is that if you are hitting your macro-nutrient intake daily, don& #39;t bother

Save your money
7. Carbs make you fat

This is insane

Too much simple carbohydrate consumption and too many calories will make you fat

Carbs fuel our brains and workouts

Consume complex carbohydrates like:

-Rice
-Whole grain pastas, or breads
-potatoes
8. Fats are terrible for you

This too is insane!

Benefits of consuming healthy fats from foods such as (fish, avocado, nuts/seeds, healthy oils) include:

-Decreased risk for stroke or heart disease
-Decreased blood pressure,
-Decreased inflammation and LDL cholesterol
9. Eating every 2-3 hours boosts metabolism

We are not designed to be consuming calories 24/7

Most of the time this often leads to over eating

Try implementing Intermittent fasting into your lifestyle it will make weight loss/management much easier
