I’ve been thinking a lot about what’s been going on in the world recently, especially in regards to George Floyd and the #BlackLivesMatter movement. I don’t think there’s a right thing to say but to say nothing is worse.
I, on an unrelated thought, thought how lucky I am to be alive right now, with the medical advances we have etc, but for some people, for POC, this is not a lucky time to be alive. When have they had their lucky time to be alive?
When do they get their justice? When do they get fair treatment? When do they get a president or prime minister who isn’t racist? When do they get to live without fear? Fear of the police? Fear of white people? Fear of what tomorrow might bring for them?
I’m so lucky to be alive right now, but they aren’t. It’s time for the next generation of POC to feel lucky to be alive, for this generation to feel safe, for people to start listening to the voices that are important in this conversation.
So I’m going to follow this thread with retweets of places we can donate, places we can educate ourselves, things we can do. I’m going to keep striving to educate myself, please do too.
