In 2010, the Patriots drafted cornerback Devin McCourty 27th overall. He would go on to have 2 forced fumbles, 7 interceptions (1 behind the league lead), was selected as second team all-pro, and be voted to the Pro Bowl.
In 2011, Devin McCourty, now team captain, started the year off by allowing 15 catches in the first two weeks that averaged over 18 yards per catch while lining up against Brandon Marshall and Vincent Jackson. McCourty continued to struggle at cornerback until week 6 of 2012.
In 2012, the Patriots played the Seattle Seahawks in week 6. Patriots safeties Steve Gregory and Patrick Chung both were injured. Devin McCourty was moved to saftey and would never look back.
From 2012 and beyond, Devin McCourty's new found role on defense wasn't just being a safety, it was also being a field general on defense. He would continue on and be the leader on a defense that would go on to win 3 Super Bowls.
Since his draft date in 2010, Devin McCourty has

- Super Bowl champion (XLIX, LI, LIII)
- Pro Bowl (2010, 2016)
- Second-team All-Pro (2010, 2013, 2016)
- Patriots 2010s All-Decade Team
- 28 career interceptions
- 11 forced fumbles
- 96 passes defended
- 883 tackles
