So I saw it pointed out last night that there aren't nearly enough black VAs involved in anime, and I agree there should definently be a lot more in major roles, but in the meantime, there's also a lot of cool black VAs who were or still are involved in the industry who aren't
nearly enough attention so I wanna give a shout out to some of them as well as where you can hear some of their work. This is gonna be a long thread and odds are I'll miss more than a few names so if anyone wants to contribute, feel free #BlackLivesMatter
First is Dani Chambers @SkiniMini07

She's done a lot of work at Funimation and she's played such characters as Chise from The Ancient Magus' Bride, Dahlia Hawthorne in Ace Attorney, and Kokoro from Smile Down the Runway
Next is @JalenKCassell

You've probably heard him a lot on Toonami recently, and he's played such characters as Okuyasu from Diamond is Unbreakable, Vanilla Ice in Stardust Crusaders, and Archer of Black in Fate/Apocrypha
He's also started directing some anime dubs too such as Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun, and a few episodes of Ascendance of a Bookworm, which you can find on Crunchyroll
@laura_stahl is an actress more people should be keeping their eyes on and she's played such characters as Ray from The Promised Neverland, Aiger Akabane from Beyblade Burst Turbo and most recently, Iruma from Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun
Jovan Jackson does a lot of work at Sentai Filmworks, and you might have heard him as Nyanta in Log Horizon and Musa in the recently released dub for Run With the Wind
Rebeka Thomas @rebekastuff has done some stuff at Bang Zoom in California and you can hear her as Krone in The Promised Neverland and Flora in Carole and Tuesday
@JohnEricBentley does a lot of voice work in LA and has played such characters as Nathan Seymour/Fire Emblem from Tiger & Bunny, Tiger's Eye from Sailor Moon SuperS and most recently Barrett in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Sakyiwaa Baah does voice work at Funimation and has played such characters as Quitterrie in Astra Lost in Space and Melba in Radiant
@GabeKunda also does a lot of work over at Funimation and you can hear him as Bem in the 2019 reboot of BEM, Tenma Hikage in Hinomaru Sumo and Rock Lock in My Hero Academia
Gina Bowes has a lot of work in California and has played such characters as Mairu Orihara from Durarara, Kiyal from Gurren Lagann and Tsunoda from Aggretsuko
Extra special shout-out to Zeno Robinson @childishgamzeno

He's been making a lot of waves lately and he's played such characters as Prince Kelby in Canon Busters, Hawks in My Hero Academia, and most recently, Goh in Pokemon Journeys
@MarkAllenJr has done work for Funimation and Bang Zoom and has played such characters as Ren Koha in Magi: The Kingdom of Magic, and Makino in The Ones Within
@cedwilliamsjr has done some stuff at Bang Zoom and has played such characters as Don in The Promised Neverland and Cheetu in Hunter x Hunter (2011)
@akronwatson did some work over at Funimation and I'm not sure if he still does VO work these days, but he's played such characters as Satoshi in Michiko and Hatchin, Wilee in Jormungand and Psycho P in One Piece: Heart of Gold
While it's the only role of hers I could find at Funimation, Sametria Ewunes @Sametria played Atsuko and Michiko and Hatchin, and she was pretty phenominal
And of course this thread wouldn't be complete without mentioning the legendary @BeauBillingslea who's played such characters as the Raikage in Naruto, Ogremon in Digimon Adventure, and of course Jet Black in Cowboy Bebop, among many other roles
Also while he's more of a voice director than an actor, I also want to give a shout out to @shannondreed

If you've been enjoying the new Saint Seiya dub on Netflix, he co-directed that, and he's also done voice direction on dubs like Chihayafuru, Tsurune and Run With the Wind
These are just a few of the really talented black VAs involved in anime dubbing and the industry wouldn't be the same without them.

I know I've missed more than a few so again, if anyone wants to add to the list, feel free #BlackLivesMatter
