Not to get political or anything: as a music fan I think it's perfectly acceptable to enjoy Kpop even if you're not a stan, and someone of western culture

Think that people should be able to enjoy whatever music you enjoy without having to feel like you belong to a certain group
I think that Kpop can have a wide variety of interesting sounds and theres a lot of great experimentation within the culture
I say culture because despite being called Kpop not all of it is pop

While YES the culture is predominantly pop based, some artists expand the soundscape
Not to say that pop is necessarily BAD either. Theres a lot of great pop music out there.

Groups like Dreamcatcher offer harder more rock based sounds

While artists like IU and (G)I-die encorperste elements of jazz and hip hop into their music.
I mean it's the same line of thinking behind enjoying latin music right?

Just cause you dont understand the language doesnt mean you cant enjoy the sounds that come from that culture
I made this thread cause I've got a lot of comments from friends that say things like "You usually have th best taste but then you also listen to Kpop"

And it got me thinking, because other people usually say I have great taste, but one of my favorite albums is a kpop album
More specifically its TWICEs album TWICETAGRAM

I get asked a lot how I can put that album on a list with classics like TPAB, MBDTF and Blonde,

But tbh it's all about what you enjoy right?
