I have thoughts. They are my opinion. No one has to agree.

I believe in using your platform to speak up and I also think that it goes beyond the scale of social media. Do I believe that 875 should use their platform to bring awareness? Yes, I do.
But don't think that most people asking for it right now are doing because they believe in the movement or even because they care. A lot of those accounts mostly rt tweets targeting 875 and link for donations in between. Is that who you want to be your spokesperson?
I remember almost crying to my friend because I wanted them to say something so badly. Now, I realize that it came from a selfish place more than anything else. I wanted to feel seen by people I support and who spoke for me many times before.
However, someone put it into perspective for me. They said that 875 might have an interactive platform, but doesn't have the biggest one. We are the platform. We are the ones interacting with them. Who are we asking them to tweet to then?
Armys who genuinely care, tried their best to reach out to the k-side and I have seen some of them tweet about it, share links for donation. But I refuse to believe that without that, they wouldn't have known. We all saw that kbs reporter, right?
You want more people to see the movement, to hear you, but how can you do so when you are shadowing it by shifting the discourse to a competition of who will use their platform the best.
I am not making excuses. I still expect something, in some way. I just want you to ask yourself if you are doing this for the right reason. Is the person you rt calling them out for the right reason? Are you hoping they will spread awareness or do you want them to have a -
clean 'activist resume' to brag about later?
Also, them not speaking today does not invalidate their past.
Lastly, while speaking of using your platform wisely, it is important to say that a lot of you are hypocrites. You did not hesitate on sharing a lie as if it was a fact and get offended about it on /your/ platform, but you want to tell others how to use theirs?
I see a lot of 'big account' share their thoughts on the sample issue without any of them fact checking the claim in the first place. They all parrot the same words 'he was anti-black, we have the right to be mad, but-' when the claim in itself is unfounded.
A simple google search would have debunked that claim, but you decided to trust an anti and share their twisted version of the story on your platform, causing people to unfairly accuse someone of something they did not do.
Do better with your platform. Think wisely.
