(thread) I'm appalled at the fact that people still endorse these these riots. Riots that have destroyed many people's livelihoods, made many people lose their jobs, and there was nothing they could do about it.
This ain't about the unfair death of a man anymore.
It's about trying to find a way to justify crimes for their own gain and pleasure. These riots will change nothing for the better but nobody will realize it until said bad change happens.
What if things become more strict? What if you lose the freedom of speech for some things?
Hell, What if the police begin turning more aggressive because it's authorized? Look i do support the protest and thing the police need to be restructured because of all the corruption in it, But i still believe that burning down cities ain't how you do it.
(argh, *think damn autocorrect)
But as these riots continue, things will only get worse for everyone.
Livelihoods are destroyed. Jobs are lost. Communities are crippled and on the brink of losing it all as the local economy has nothing. Newer, stricter laws could be put in place.
And people would look back when these changes become a reality and say, "how did all of this happen?"
This is the real kind of thing that people just don't seem to understand. We don't care about the corporations losing one store to these riots.
We're more concerned about people losing their jobs, their incomes, to these riots. And local businesses, how will they heal from this? Most are on a lease and don't have insurance. And insurance doesn't cover every single thing.
And since insurance likely doesn't cover these kinds of things, and as these business owners can't pay for the damages that weren't their own fault, There's one thing they fall into.
Poverty. And i unfortunately expect many people will fall into this hole after it.
You can be worried about human lives.
I'm worried sick about my girlfriend as she's in a city that's going into said rioting.
I'm begging to above that she'll stay safe from this. But I'm worried about all these innocent people who are now victims of these riots-
Because they were caught in the crossfire. If burning all these buildings is "sending a message", Then i hate to say it, But it's sending the wrong one.
These riots aren't sending a good message. They're sending an anarchist message. And that's why i don't support these riots.
However, I fully support the protests, and the reasoning behind it. Things about the police need to change, the corruption needs to be purged, But i also hate to say it, but not every cop is a target for you to kill. Some just want to protect.
Some will abuse their power and think they're above the law because they're the law. These are the cops i hate. These are the ones i want gone. The cop that killed that man? I especially want to see him in a nice orange, wearing handcuffs like a stylish bracelet.
But even then, I do know that not every officer wants me dead, or is a murderer. But the ones that are? Damn them all to hell. You joined the force to protect people, not become their personal bogeyman because you're on a power trip.
And these rioters? I want them to take a nice, long look at themselves and ask themselves: "Am i really doing the right thing in this whole situation? What does burning buildings and looting stores have to do with the death of this man?"
Because really, What the hell does any of that relate to the fact that it was police brutality and unfair treatment that killed that man? At this point, I'm beginning to believe that the rioters are being worse than that. Instead of one life, one family, being crippled by loss-
It's multiple people, Multiple families, being crippled by their losses as they're caught in the crossfire of these riots. This is something everyone is ignoring. Or trying to push it away and say that you're being a "cop bootlicker" or a "racist"
No. I'm neither of those. I'm just extremely worried and anxious about innocent people being caught in this and watching it being ignored or downpedaled as a "non-issue".
I'm especially worried about my girlfriend being caught in these..
I want to ask something. What if you lose your SO to something like this but you live? Are you just going to brush it off and go "oh well i can always have another".
I'm not. I'd be devastated to even learn that she loses something over these riots.
So here's the thing. I'm saying a life, a life of someone especially dear to my heart, is of an extremely high value. But i also said that she hopefully won't lose anything, hinting at her livelihood being put into danger or being destroyed.
So these businesses? These jobs that people have? They're valuable too. Insurance isn't a cure-all, It's only an assist. These people are losing everything to this. How do you think it makes them feel? In fact, If it was you, How would YOU feel?
Me? I would feel like my entire life was torn apart from me. This is something nobody gets. This is something nobody thinks about. This is the new problem that has spiraled from the original problem. And this isn't about that original problem anymore. It's total anarchy.
And i don't know how people defend this. I want them to put themselves in these people's shoes. I don't think they'd like their livelihoods and everything they built up to lost in the blink of an eye as they watch like a helpless mother.
So my final words on this so this thread doesn't expand any further?
Support the protests. Support the protesters wanting peace. Everyone deserves to be equal and deserves peace from all the things they have to suffer through.
