had a convo with my mom who is in Texas watching the Spanish speaking news channels, a thread on things I had to correct for her about the protests:

she said at times she saw white folks and non-black folks protesting than Black people. I reminded her when Black folks protests their lives are on the line. They might not make it home. It’s up to those who love us & our culture to help us by pulling up.

All in all it was obvious the conversations on the news are more geared towards the looting and uproar than the deeply systemic issue Latinx media jumps around: ANTI-BLACKNESS.

she mentioned that there are a lot of businesses being destroyed. I said well, they’re not interested in showing the peaceful protestors and even if they don’t Black folks have been peacefully protesting since forever and that hasn’t changed the system that keeps killing us.

She said, I just don’t understand why they killed that man. I said, the purpose was not to arrest it was to kill. That’s why we people are so tired. We literally can’t even breathe in America.
