First: Accept luck. Where and when you're born will decide most of your life. Don't mix luck and skill.
Second, accept randomness. Fate, destiny, universe are romantic concepts. There is no scientific evidence to prove them. Don't confuse coincidence for fate (Mr Eko, Lost).
Third, adversity sucks and you're probably very lucky. People who slog and succeed through adversities? Respect them. Big time.
Fourth, don't expect too much from educated people. Education doesn't build character. Education helps you pass exams. For true character and grit, refer #3 above.
Fifth, empathy, compassion, humility can't be taught. They're not "skills". They're just who you are.
Sixth, showing up is half the job. Be consistent. Show up on time. Late isn't cool.
Seventh, slog. When you find what you love to do? slog away. There is no substitute for hard work. Repeat: slog.
Eighth, there is no work-life balance. There is only life. Work is part of life. Family is part of life. Love your life. Love your work. Love your family. Balancing is tough. But you will find it if you try.
Ninth, money is an outcome. Find what you love, slog at what you love, improve on your failures, never give up. The market (and money) will hopefully find you.
Tenth, don't blindly trust anything, especially the Internet. Most importantly, don't blindly believe threads like these that try to simplify complicated shit. Peace.
