Imagine a module of 40 students. Two classes of 20. Lovely. In the autumn, with social distancing, five classes of say eight. For an imaginary median lecturer, multiply that by three modules (say): fifteen classes a week of 1hr/1hr30, could be 20+ hours a week of classes alone.
Then add the lectures for those three modules. Say another 3-4.5 hours a week of delivery, certainly a lot more to record audio and/or video slide by slide.
Then knock out the lecturer on a fairly random basis when the contact tracers phone them up. And lots of them at once, because lots of them will have seen the same student with cv19.
Then scratch your head about how to do this if you were already straining at the seams with your buildings - certainly you'll need to add in evening teaching, also Saturdays. Very rational to put in Sundays if needs be.
Now I like a spot of hard work. Don't get me wrong. We will do our very best: likely it will work somehow. And it's no-one's fault. But what I'm introducing you to here is the level of increased output involved on quite a lot less input (i.e. cash and - probably - labour). /END
