I am not a deeply political person.
I read fantasy stories and spend all day thinking really hard about them. I am not the guy you want to come to for a conscience check.
My perspective is about as broad as a slice of toast.

My perspective is about as broad as a slice of toast.
But I know this much: people deserve to breathe.
They deserve to walk down the street without fear for their future or their lives. They deserve to be recognized for their behavior, not for their genetic makeup. They deserve the opportunity to pursue the life they want to live.

I've got all of those things.
I have never, for one single moment in my life, known what it's like to be without any of them—god forbid at an institutional level.
I know there are a lot of people who feel the same.

I know there are a lot of people who feel the same.
For people like us, it's easy to see everything that's happening and just kind of sit on your hands and wait for things to go back to how they were. "When's the scary rioting going to be over so I can stop being anxious?"
There's an irony in this.
This anxiety I'm feeling? The fear for my own safety and ability to live the life I imagine? This is a fact of life for so many people. They're born into this emotion. Constant anxiety, knowing every day that attempting to live their lives could be a death sentence.
If you're like me and this whole thing makes you incredibly uncomfortable, harness that. That isn't a reason to turn your eyes away from it; that's the beginning of empathy, and that's the power these demonstrations have.
You don't have to protest, you don't have to riot, but find something to do; some way to use the powers and privileges you do have.
Say something.
Give something.
Say something.
Give something.
It's not a huge gesture in the grand scheme of things, but this thread is my say, and this donation is my give. I can do those things, at the very least.
It takes many drops to fill a pale, and the country is burning.

I'm very happy to be taking complete advantage of my friend @TimHickson1's idea to donate to this organization. I will freeboot your clever generosities every time.
