#ZedTwitter let's take a brief trip down memory lane.

Do you remember the events that took place in Mongu, in January 2011? During the Rupiah Banda administration.
Zambia Police was unleashed on a group of citizens who had gathered peacefully to discuss the future of Barotse and self determination.

This was January 14, 2011.
The govt and media described the event as a riot in the justification to kill, maim, and arrest citizens.

The official death toll was 19. Over 200 were arrested.
Several others were injured through gunshots. Among them was an 11 year old child.
This all happened during a very contentious election campaign, and then opposition leader Michael Sata vowed to investigate thoroughly should his party win. His party won, and he quickly instituted a commission of inquiry headed by Roger Chongwe.
The commission submitted its findings to President Sata by early 2012, and yet he decided not to share the findings with the public. To this day, it remains buried in state house. His successor doesn't appear willing to release it either
In the aftermath of the brutal incursion by Zambia Police, we learned that 30 school ages girls were impregnated by these same officers who remained camped in the area for months.

Another assault on the citizens of Mongu.
Have the families of the deceased, injured, missing and incarcerated ever received justice or compensation?

What measures do we have in place to ensure a Zambian president won't issue such orders again?

What did we learn from this series of events?
