Some people refrain from commenting on certain issues, not because they don’t see them as important or they’ve “chosen the side of the oppressor”.

But because people would read a wrong meaning to their message and it may or may not be because their words aren’t well articulated.
Take the George Floyd protests for example. Many black people have been labeled “coons” for saying looting is wrong.

Or a simple call for restrain has the twitter Kangaroo court demanding for your head.

I’m not writing this thread to share my stand on any of these issues...
... but I just think it’s sad that we can’t have a discourse without it being emotionally charged.

Especially because this causes the conversation to derail. Especially when they have a large following.

Rather than contribute the chaos, they’d rather just retweet and repost.
And I think that’s fine.

If you have a loud voice, keep speaking. But don’t demonize people who choose not to.
