Why there’s no such thing as a good cop: a thread.
1) A cop cannot be good, as a cop, you are working for a morally corrupt system. The laws in that country are not all just, and you go for a job that includes you having to enforce unjust laws and rules upon members of a community you claim to love-
As an officer you arrest the wrong people, convict the wrong people and naturally have more power over people. Just because that is the system that was made, and has failed, to protect the civilians you’re hurting. And don’t even get me started on police brutality.
This is a bad cop in the sense that they’re a cop that does bad things, the law ≠ right. And that makes all cops that follow the system bad. Bad cops.
2) A cop cannot be good. Now people arguing that cops that are standing with us and secretly going against the system are good cops. No, they’re not. Because as a cop, they have sworn to enforce the law. Helping us is not doing that. They are going against what they-
Signed up for, even if it’s morally right. Even if it’s to save lives. Even if helps people, they are still going against the system they are working for. They are breaking rules, when they are meant to police rules. It doesn’t matter if a certain law/rule is unjust-
In this system, you breaking an unjust rule is exactly like breaking a just one. Whether it’s good or not, a rule is a rule, a law is a law. And you breaking that makes you a bad cop.
This is a bad cop in the sense that they do not stand for what they are meant to be prepresenting. They are bad because they’re not cops. Bad cops.
