Watching the notherners talk about the Birmingham statue is hilarious.

Some quick facts.

Birmingham wasn't around during the Civil War, the city was established in the 1870's.

There are statues in Lynn Park for all the wars that Alabama fought in.

The center statue is the confederate memorial (why it's there, IDK).

The statue is meant to honor the soldiers, not the leaders, as all the statues are of foot soldiers of many wars.

The CSA was an awful state and would round up men against their will and force them to fight
Thats the end of quick facts.

I don't think that a confederate statue belongs in Bham, the city has no connection to the war. But I don't think that many Northerners have any clue what they are talking about either.
The civil war was a tragedy that never should have happened, yet there really wasn't much of a way to avoid it. There were real people fighting in it on both sides. We all get too cought up in the generals and leaders to realize that the foot soldiers were fighting their brothers
It was the bloodiest war in American history and I do not blame people that don't want the soldiers forgotten.

And I don't blame the resentment towards the CSA either, they were genuinely awful.
