I am heartbroken for my home of 10 years. A huge protest went off as organizers wanted (despite attempts at provocation) and everyone went home safely. Then night fell and they started to see & smell the new wheelchair accessible playground going up in flames.
I'm sure it isn't a coincidence that this is one of few community spaces where black kids and white kids both play... This will disproportionately harm black and low income kids. This arson is particularly disgusting in light of how successfully POC built up the community today.
Anyway, rant over. Just needed to shout into the universe briefly about that.
Good, unexpected news - officials seem to have strong indications of who did it, they don't seem to be blaming civil rights protestors, and a local group has already raised $19k toward rebuilding
