CETS THREAD !!

cets season is officially over for me so TAG BATCH 2021 YOU'RE IT !! here are some tips and advice based on my personal experience and the questions i frequently get asked about college applications đŸ€“
disclaimer: i’ll only share tips that i personally found effective when going through review and the college admissions process. none of these are guaranteed to work for everyone so don’t force it if it’s not working for you hehe
EXAM REVIEW TIPS

1. take a MOCK TEST before you start reviewing
- that way you can identify what topics/subjects you’ll already do well at and what you have to spend more time reviewing on
- study subjects you find hardest first, then those you find easiest last
2. have a GROWTH MINDSET
- intelligence is not fixed, and can be trained and developed through hardwork
- don’t beat yourself up if you don’t do well on your first practice tests or if you find a topic difficult
- focus on improving and capitalize on the mistakes you make now
3. KHAN ACADEMY !!
- my savior !! the SAT review program is really effective bc of it's similar style with the CETs
- you can review according to topics
- they have free full practice tests
- you can schedule your full practice tests and your daily practice questions
[cont. of no. 3]
personally, the schedules and reminders (they can send reminders through email) really motivated me to study. i can adjust it pa according to my preferences or according to what i want to study more on
4. don't CRAM !!
- make a schedule and stick to it
- divide your study periods into short 20 minute - 1 hour sessions (depending on the subject).
[cont. of no. 4]
i had a schedule na parang i’ll spend 30 minutes everyday practicing reasoning and vocabulary, MWF science then TTh reading comprehension. i stuck to that schedule from july to sept.
^ that isn't a lot of work per day so i still had enough time for school work !!
5. keep your PHONE AWAY while you review
- no to distractions !!
- if you want to ask help from someone, list them down first then ask someone AFTER you review. if you ask them during review, you might be tempted to chat or use social media
6. use FLASH CARDS
- especially for vocab, science, and gen info
- i recommend quizlet !! they can even make practice tests for you :>

i had a lot of these ohmy i think my quizlet CETs review folder had like 60+ sets in it. but it was really effective!!
7. choose a COMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT.
- find your own comfortable place!!

my brain is very picky when it comes to study venues HAHA i can only effectively learn new concepts when i’m alone and i have a spacious desk but i can practice flash cards anywhere else.
8. HELP EACH OTHER OUT!!
- when you help a friend out during review, you both learn !!
- if you can effectively teach someone a concept, it means your really understand it
- you can learn shortcuts from each other (especially in math)
9. PRACTICE SHADING
- especially for the acet, you need to shade FAST (and possibly without having your eyes focused on the answer sheet)
- you can easily search for blank answer sheets on google images
[cont. of no. 9]
- practice shading when you’re taking an actual practice test or when you’re taking a break from studying and just wanna shade random bubbles

during classes, i sometimes just randomly shade bubbles while listening to teachers’ lectures HAHAHA bumilis ako tho!!
10. REST.
- please don’t burn yourself out
- use whatever stress management technique is most effective for you
ATENEO SPECIFIC

the ateneo application is very tedious and long bc they ask for extracurriculars, awards, etc.

i spent so much time on this đŸ˜© pero worth it naman hehe
1. AWARDS / EXTRACURRICULARS
- grade 9 to grade 12 ECs
- wala namang prescribed layout but for clarity and organization, i organized them according to type and level of participation
- categorize them according to what you're active in

here's a sample of how i did mine:
[cont. of no. 1]
- if you don’t feel like studying but still want to work on something productive, work on this !!
- for shsians, useful ’tong list na ’to later on if you decide to apply for SAP award i legit submitted almost the same list just organized in a different way
2. RECOMMENDATION LETTERS
- choose wisely chz but seriously dapat teacher na kilala ka talaga and you're confident that he/she will give you positive feedback
- even if they don’t ask for it, offer to give them a copy of your awards/ECs list to help them write your recommendation
3. PERSONAL ESSAY
- usually about something significant in your life / something you accomplished / unforgettable experience
- this is your chance to show what makes you a unique applicant! make it meaningful

opinion: i don’t recommend making it about covid.
i guess that's it ?? good luck bbs u got this !! if you have questions pa or need help reviewing (esp math hekhek) my dms are open and i'll do my best to help out !!
