A reminder that racism and bigotry has very little correlation to intelligence.

Everything that tells you otherwise is institutional and systemic ableism that harms intellectually and cognitively disabled people most of all - especially those who are also BIPoC!!!

Perceptions of intelligence and prejudice against such also negatively impact people with ALL disabilities, esp related to speech, mobility, stature, and disfigurement; wherein people make their mind up about someone’s intelligence based on appearance, movement & communication

Your activism is not justice if it also doesn’t dismantle structures of ableism and violence against people with disabilities.

Many of the Black and Indigenous people harmed most by police in the US, Canada, and across the world were disabled, especially intellectually disabled

Rhetoric around ‘stupidity’, ‘idiocy’, ‘dumb people’, and more, ALL has roots in the prejudice of intelligence and disability.

They’re not ‘idiots’, they’re not ‘stupid’. They’re bigots. They practice hatred.

Dismantle ableism. There’s no peace or justice without it.
