So tonight, as i was leaving the bar, i saw 2 checkpoints that essentially gridlocked the area. No ubers, lyfts, taxis etc were picking up due to those reasons. There were 2 people scared to walk to their hotel. I overheard it and said..

“Hey, i’ve had a few but its been about 2 hours, my friends and i are waiting about 20 minutes to drive due to the checkpoints, i can drive y’all if you really need”

They tried to offer more over a hundred dollars and said thats not necessary. On the way to their hotel i asked “why are you guys scared to walk?”, their motel was not even a half of a mile away

They said, “its cause of everything thats going on, i can be any color and i’ll be assumed as a suspect”.

As a person whom is mixed but my physicallity shows as white, i’m not okay with this. Im dominantly mexican. My sister is black. I’ve never had anyone judge me based on me color other than the fact that i could be “privileged”.

I’m staying quiet because i coherently cant find the right words to say to depict my lack of actions. Yet, i spent hours today reading case actions on why cops deemed it necessary to actively shoot on the “perpetrator”
