Thoughts on knowledge organisers: I see lots of requests for them on FB in particular. I definitely think looking at someone else’s is a great starting point. I do it because I need inspiration sometimes. But I get a little bit concerned that some knowledge organisers are just
Being directly reused. For exam classes, sure, there’s set knowledge students need to know. Makes sense. But surely at KS3 if we have been formulating our own curriculum then only we know the knowledge that we want them to know?
I think knowledge organisers are great, but I wonder if sometimes they’re just something stuck in a book because someone says they have to be there rather than actively used in retrieval and in lessons.
I could be reading this entirely the wrong way. Perhaps everyone asking for them is just getting inspiration!
