On May 31, 2017, I lost my childhood and life-long friend and cousin n a car bomb at Zambaq square. Rahmatullah Haseeb was a father, a financial controller at @RoshanConnects & a professor at @AUAfghanistan. He was the brightest & the most patriot among us.
With Haseeb, more than 90 people were killed & 400 were injured. #TB denied involvement in the attack. Later, NDS arrested 3 members of the Haqqani network as the mastermind behind the attack. But d attack wasn't thoroughly investigated, nor was its report shared with the public
This year, @nytopinion published an OpEd by Sirajuddin Haqqani, the leader of the Haqqani network, and whitewashed him as the most peaceful man and group in the country. However, some important figures claimed that a western expert on Afghanistan wrote the opinion not Haqqani.
And while the Intra-Afghans peace talks are underway and is a step forward, there is none to represent thousands of victims on the table. We need them during the talks at least to avoid whitewashing the #war_criminals as the peace heroes.
