I've spent a lot of time thinking thinking about these protests lately and sometimes it gets frustrating that the media continues to exclusively show the destruction, riots and looting, but recently it seems like there are several serene protests.
Why do I have to look so freaking hard to find these peaceful protests when they are everywhere? Why do we just always show destruction and images to evoke anger and divisiveness? I can't stand it and I'm getting fed up.
Tell me why! I see videos of protestors laying on the ground with police for 9 minutes, I watch them walk together, but these are never the "front page news". There has to be a reason why and I can't stand getting on here and watching people argue.
I just need to believe again that most people are good but I'm constantly slapped in the face with polarizing tweets, videos, images, headlines, you name it.
I'm not trying to make this about me and if that's what you get from this thread, then I apologize. This is about the racial injustices against the black community by law enforcement and really people across the nation.
I just hate that when I'm out in public that the media sensationalism makes me feel uncomfortable that my friends, neighbors, or community members might think I hate them just by looking at their skin color.
