Honestly I& #39;m still conflicted on the usage of the term fancops/fanpol. I completely understand why most feel we should retire the term given the circumstances, but it feels unfair. Antis/Fanpol/Fandom frollos/Fandom bullies call us pedophiles, abuse apologists, every buzzword 1/
under the sun, and most have connotations with how the LGBTQ+ community has been wrongfully treated/mislabelled.
Like we& #39;re supposed to ignore the history behind those words when directed at LGBTQ+ folk, but us calling them fanpol/fancop 2/
because they POLICE people& #39;s interests/kinks and not because we see them as the embodiment of the LITERAL POLICE FORCE, is not okay?
Also the first person to bring fandom into this situation where the antis. They were the one making false accusations of not proships 3/
not supporting BLM or not retweeting enough posts about it (stinks of performative activism, but I think thats obvious. Also, how would they even know? They likely don& #39;t follow any proship ppl so where are they getting their facts from? Its a blatant lie but still.) 4/
By changing names for the antis I can& #39;t help but feel we& #39;re leaning into their incorrect perception of us using fancop as a way to support cops. Which isn& #39;t how the term was or is being used. Its literally just short hand for "person who polices fandom/fiction". There& #39;s no 5/
connection to the actual police forcehttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤦‍♀️" title="Woman facepalming" aria-label="Emoji: Woman facepalming">

In the end, I still am not decided. Even after this thread, I still understand the thought process behind changing the term and finding something else. But tbh, considering its the antis who started connecting fancops w/ actual police 6/
its only a matter of time before they find fault with the new term. Probably because they& #39;ll always find fault with something that points out the core and root of their ideology and actions. 7/7
