I sat in church in my small town when I 7 years old & had white kids telling me I couldn’t sit next to me because I was a different color.
I sat in a classroom as the only black student & listened to my classmates tell me how “all life’s matter” but then would hear “f-$& niggers”
I cried in my high school cafeteria after months of torture from the redneck table that sat behind me calling me “sharkisha” & telling me “they don’t have fried chicken & watermelon” for lunch.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard “you’re pretty for a mix girl” “but you act white” or “you’re not a nigger you’re cool”
The amount of times I’ve had to ask “do they know I’m black?” Before hanging out with new people or meeting my friends parents is absolutely ridiculous.
