The Black Lives Matter movement is indeed important, and should not be ignored. But at the same time, Malaysians should also be aware of the injustice that exist in the country towards our marginalized communities. [An opinion thread]
First of all, migrants who form the backbone of our hard labour force and 3D jobs are being mistreated by both employers and the system. They are being brought in illegally by people who want to profit off their hardships and detained and thrown into inhumane camps by immigration
A great docu R.AGE on how foreign students are being tricked into labour by "agents":
Student Trafficked

Another good report by AJ on the exploitation of migrant workers here in Malaysia:
Malaysia's Migrant Money Trail
Not just that but the idea of "race" has been engrained among Malaysians for so long that we actively practise racism on a daily basis. Landlords are only renting their units to specific races and we're also racially profiling people in our daily lives.
Remember when you're a kid and your elders told you: "Don't go out or not the apunene will come and catch you"? If this isn't racism I don't know what else is, and what's worse is that we've been teaching kids this for decades and it's basically engrained into out "culture"
Here's another great documentary by R.AGE that depics the reality of renting houses in Malaysia. I honestly love their work and we should also support investigative journalism in Malaysia.

Racist Rentals
