I’m with a very mellow group of protesters just south of union square now, taking a knee in the street. NYPD is announcing over loudspeaker that the protesters have become “violent and is creating a disturbance.” I feel like a crazy person

Then they charged and beat us with night sticks

To be clear I didn’t get hit, not trying to steal anti police valor

Before the cops charged, people in the crowd were chanting, “walk with us!” and insisting that the police should be just as upset as everyone else. It didn’t make a difference! I hope some people found that to be an illuminating experience.
