I will also say, a lot of church members feel like they need permission from the church itself to speak up on controversial topics. It’s understandable! That kind of deference to authority is v ingrained. 1/
The “living with differences” video going around doesn’t touch racial justice... at all. But if the church made a video that did, that’s what people would be sharing.

The gap isn’t that people are sharing a vid that doesn’t say anything, it’s that the church has been silent. 2/
This is all to say, I think people are being their own kind of brave and resourceful by making the most of the material the church has provided. Ppl can’t rewire their relationships to authority overnight. It’s on church leaders to lead on this. IG friends are doing their best.
