Just watched law enforcement in downtown Louisville escalate what has been a peaceful protest all day. It was 8:19, 41 mins before curfew. It did not appear there was a threat to life or property — police announced it was an unlawful assembly and fired tear gas. @WDRBNews
Important to note I made this observation watching @ChadKMills live stream on the @WDRBNews Facebook page. Chad is commenting on how it's been peaceful out there. He's walked with this group for the last few hours.
Metro Council President David James tells WDRB “police saw people approaching that had leaf blowers loaded with bleach that was intended to blow at police. So they sent out the tear gas.” James says police were trying to disperse the crowd because of that.
