Be clear:

The resources, time, energy and urgency that has gone into protecting capital has never been applied to protecting Black lives in America.

Not just because they don’t care.

Because the use and destruction of Black lives has been *central to creating the capital.*
Everytime we say the police need to change, we get told it costs too much.

Meanwhile the police overtime has skyrocketed, and we pay for it.

Everytime we say we want to live, they say change takes time.

But these tanks got deployed in an instant.
While modern American policing has shifted, its rooted are still entangled with its origins in slave patrols.

Black people were not to be served and protected as humans. They were to be controlled and restricted as property.

America has always valued its capital over Black lives.

Because Black lives were its first capital and created the capital it owns now.

They will never protect us like they protect their property.
I say this on the anniversary of the destruction of Tulsa’s Black Wall Street by racists who were still celebrated in OK as recently as a few years ago.

All because Black people had the audacity to have property and not be property. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/whats-name-debate-rages-over-tulsa-landmarks-honoring-ku-klux-flna6C10742002
