Thread: "Defund the police" is a much better slogan than "abolish the police."

The latter sounds like utopian nonsense even to most ordinary not-super-political people (of all races) who start out semi-sympathetic.

It raises all kinds of hard-to-answer followup questions about what would exist instead since even in an advanced socialist society w/no poverty it's unrealistic to think all forms of interpersonal crime and violence would cease to exist--never mind as a demand for right now!

But "take away so much of their $$ that they have to stop doing most of what they currently do and we can redirect those resources to direct solutions to the underlying problems that cause so much street crime in the first place" is a way easier sell.
