hey all i know i been MIA but i wanna say that yes this energy everyone is bringing right now is great + keep bringing it but it& #39;s not gonna do anything if we dont keep it going once it& #39;s not trending anymore
everytime a black person is murdered there& #39;s outrage for a week or so but then people just like... stop. until theres another high profile case + the cycle starts again.
but racism doesn& #39;t go away in between social media trends. black people are harrassed + killed on the daily, it& #39;s just not always on video. innocent people shouldnt have to die for the masses to speak out against systems that are clearly + deeply racist
there are so many victims + families + communities out there that don& #39;t get justice and dont get this kind of support and wont get those things if we keep treating this fight like it& #39;s start and stop
so please stay angry!! after the media storm calms down and attention goes elsewhere remember that just cause youre in a position where you dont see racism every day doesnt mean it& #39;s gone. black lives always matter, not just when it& #39;s popular to talk about
so after everyone stops talking about it keep going! keep bringing it up! make people uncomfortable!! make them listen!! nothing is ever gonna change otherwise
protest if you can, donate if you cant protest, sign petitions if you can& #39;t donate. just do what you can. be aware of your privilege, educate yourselves, listen to + promote black voices, support black businesses, write letters to your representatives, etc. just keep it going.
(but also remember to take care of yourselves. with everything going rn it& #39;s really easy to get overwhelmed + self preservation is important too. now more than ever reach out to people around you if you need it or if you think they might need it. anyway love you. and fuck cops.)
