As we head into Pride month this June, as well as being in the midst of the #BLM movement, I think we all need to remember our history and understand why we are lucky enough to have an entire month decidcated to people who identify within the LGBTQ+ Community

Pictured below is Marsha P. Johnson, a black, trans activist who, on the 28th of June, 1969 threw the first brick in an act of rebellion against the police storming the stonewall inn, which catered for a large number of homosexuals in New York City
The violent demonstration allowed an uprising for those who felt that the police considered them to be second class citizens, due to their sexual orientation and gender. Without Marsha P. Johnson, we would not have the respect, nor would we have the rights that we have today!
We must remember people such as Marsha P. Johnson so we donât run the risk of forgetting our own history! Especially in times of today with the #BlackLivesMatters Movement, which ultimately shows us that history does, and will always, repeat itself!
If I lose friends because of this, I donât care, but I just thought that, despite it not being your âownâ history, everyone should be informed of what happened before our times! If anyone wants to know more, I am always happy to educate or chat to those who want to know more!
