i want to use my platform to share some things, experiences and resources. it's not much but i do have a responsibility to use my voice. the voices that should be uplifted are black voices because these are BLACK EXPERIENCES.
i have the privilege of never knowing what those experiences are like because at the end of the day, I can go home and make the conscious choice to stay home or go out.
in columbus, the city named after the colonizer, police are in full riot gear, the same ohio national guard that did the kent state shootings of 1970 is here as well as SWAT. they are throwing tear gas and macing peaceful protestors POINT BLANK. some are ripping off masks to
spray right in their face. that's assault. them wearing riot gear already escalates the situation. it creates unease. it shows that they're scared of something, even if people are just simply protesting peacefully. SWAT is equipped with flash cannons and last night, the national
guard brought REAL GUNS with LIVE BULLETS. not just rubber bullets, live. they are macing people who aren't even protesting, who are walking away. they are shutting down exists for major highways so people cannot leave before curfew. in other cities, they're announcing curfew
10 MINUTES before it goes into action, while also closing all lines of transportation, not giving people time to leave safely. they are rasing people in their OWN CARS, on their OWN PROPERTY, people who are not causing any kind of violence are getting shot at, violently pushed.
the protests were peaceful. until the police escalated the situation.

it is not safe here, for anyone.

ESPECIALLY BLACK PEOPLE.
why are the people that should be protecting us making us the villains, denying us from our rights, taking away black people's LIVES? why are white people watching from the sidelines at a diner in cincinnati without masks thru a pandemic?
why do black people have a higher chance of dying because doctors and nurses don't believe them?
why do black people have to beg for representation in the workplace, in congress, in games, in cartoons. anywhere?
there are so many other things that are wrong here but the answer is racism and a corrupt system.
white people, NBPOC, we need to rise up and stand by the black community. we need to use our privilege to protect them, stand with them, uplift their voices. give them a platform.

if you can't go out to the protests, thats okay! donate where you can.
