It's also very telling that I have been tweeting about racism all weekend and not a single person has pushed back on me, but I am seeing so many POCs getting tweets that just prove the need for people to go back to school & learn a basic lesson: listen when teacher is talking. 1/
Instead of telling a marginalized person what is ladylike, what racism is, what protesting should look like, listen to them. Because they are the ones schooling us. So don't talk back. Don't correct them. Take it in. See who else they are engaging with and read their thoughts.
Pull up a chair, take out a pen and paper, and shut up as we listen to what our friends and loved ones in the Black community are saying. They have been saying it for YEARS. But if you are only now just tuning in, then now is not the time for talking. It is the time for listening
And as one of the Texas mommas once said to a friend:

"We listen with our ears open, our mouths shut, and our respect dialed up."
